I had the pleasure and honor of meeting Mr. Polk at a showing of his work in San Francisco in 19xx. Being a young black artist, I was a bit intimidated. For no reason. He was a kind and gracious gentleman. Needless to say, it was thrilling to meet someone of his stature face to face.
